Herbal actions of Analgesic, pain relievers and Anodyne.
Herbs taken orally for relief of mild pain. May be applied externally. An analgesic may also be an, antispasmodic by reliving cramps (cramp bark etc). Throughout time Opium Poppy has always been the most effective analgesic but prescribed by a qualified medical /naturopathic practitioner except when applied to an external part of the body as in a poultice. The same rule may apply to Aconite, Arnica, and Belladonna.
Mild analgesic herbs-
Black cohosh, Black willow, Catnip, Chamomile, Cowslip root, Cramp bark, Devils claw, Gesemium, Guaiacum, Hops, Jamaican dogwood, Lady slipper, Lobelia, Passionflower, Skullcap, St John’s Wort, Skunk cabbage, Valerian, White willow bark, Wild lettuce, Wild yam, Wintergreen, Yerba mate Tea, Poke root, White poplar ,Boswellia.
Skullcap, Mistletoe, Valerian and Feverfew should be considered first. All four are believed to have anti -prostaglandin effect, the first three given in combination: the latter (Feverfew) appearing to work best Singley.
